I go to a high school in a rough area.
One day, two grown men from a gang came on campus at lunch to fight students from a rival gang. EVERYONE rushed to the front of the school, about 2,000 people all from different grades and cliques. I thought they were going to watch the fight.
Instead, they chased the men off campus.

Today I saw a homeless man on the corner.
He had signs that claimed he had been sober for 5 years. Car after car passed by ignoring him.
I watched two girls drive by only to return a few minutes later with a bag of socks, shaving cream, razors, and water for him.

At my church, a little girl would always sit next to an old man.
One day, he didn't show up and she asked why.
Her grandmother answered that he was in the hospital very sick.
The girl cried and sent the man a card telling him to get better.
He was going to give up on his life, but upon receiving the card he lived another six months.

Today, I came upon a terrible accident.
There was a man lying dead on the street, crushed after he had jumped in front of a car. Under his body was a small boy, who had run into the street and was unharmed.
Later I found out the man did not know the child whose life he had saved.
